The triple planetary crisis of climate change, biodiversity loss and pollution is an existential threat to humanity.
Around 3.6 billion people live in areas highly susceptible to climate change and every year, 21.5 million people are displaced by climate change-related disasters.
Through this mission, we are committed to helping address the interconnected challenges of climate change, biodiversity loss and pollution, prioritizing the well-being of the most vulnerable.
Leveraging our expertise in infrastructure, procurement and project management, we help build local capacity, foster regional and global collaboration, and champion sustainable practices. These efforts are rooted in ecological and just transition principles, empowering countries to reach their sustainability targets and build a more equitable future where environmental progress benefits everyone.

Supporting regional action around the South China SeaThe strategic action programme for the South China Sea and Gulf of Thailand, supported by the Global Environment Facility and UNOPS/UNEP, fosters regional cooperation among six nations to sustainably manage marine habitats, cut land-based pollution and achieve biodiversity targets.

Advancing blue economies through PROCARIBE+With funding from the Global Environment Facility, UNOPS is helping to advance sustainable blue economies in 19 Wider Caribbean countries. PROCARIBE+ focuses on biodiversity, fisheries, pollution and climate adaptation.

Restoring Indonesia’s peatlandsSupporting Indonesia’s Peatland Restoration agency, 2.7 million hectares of peatlands were restored across seven provinces, protecting a key carbon reserve and positively impacting over 67,000 lives.
